Crossroads Cafe is a superbly produced, entertaining video, print and online series designed to teach English as a Second Language. The result of an unprecedented collaboration between INTELECOM; Thomson Heinle Publishers; the departments of education for the states of California, Illinois, Florida and New York; the US Department of Education; the United States Department of Justice, Immigration and Naturalization Service; and the US Information Agency, Crossroads Cafe helps learners build their English skills and cultural awareness. 

Preserving the Legacy: Introduction to Environmental Technology offers learners a dramatic visual exploration of this critical new field. Through the cameras eye, learners enjoy an intense, compelling view of global environmental problems and solutions. The course includes 13 half-hour lessons covering governmental processes, health effects of hazardous materials, ecology, the environmental compartments, occupational safety and health, waste, and pollution prevention. 

Framework for Democracy probes concepts that are basic to an introductory course in American government. The course combines 26 half-hour videos with text and online components to provide a comprehensive and up-to-date treatment of core topics. Compelling interviews and case studies on a range of issues, both historic and contemporary, encourage learners to think about and debate the many questions and challenges confronting our democracy. 

Preserving the Legacy: Industrial Processes and Waste Stream Management, the companion series to Preserving the Legacy: Introduction to Environmental Technology, gives learners a unique look at hazardous waste sites, industrial facilities, equipment and technologies that might otherwise be inaccessible to them. Lifelines is a ten-part documentary videos series for family literacy and adult education. Inspiring stories of families working together provide meaningful, and motivating learning experiences for today’s parent learner.

This non-calculus physics video series, made possible by a grant from the National Science Foundation, was developed under the direction of Dr. Richard P. Olenick and a council of 12 prominent high school physics teachers. Twenty-eight broadcast-quality lessons address such physics subjects as the law of gravitation, waves, electric fields and forces, and relativity. All video lessons are supported by carefully designed Instructor’s Guides to support student understanding of the concepts presented.

Using writings of past philosophers and interviews with more than 50 contemporary thinkers, the course episodes underscore how these great questions - What is art? Does God exist? What is the meaning of life? Does the end justify the means? - still reverberate in society today.
